Keeping tabs on student consultancy firms

Thursday, 31 March 2022

A large number of Bangladeshi students are going abroad for higher education every year. And they are taking help from student consultancy firms. The purpose of such firms does not seem to be wrong because they are supposed to help the students prepare their papers for getting enrolled in overseas universities. But there are some consultancy firms that try to allure parents and guardians of the students by publishing attractive but incorrect fliers and advertisements. They are giving false information to the students and their family. For example, they often inform their clients that after going abroad it is very easy to get a job and earn. But things are not so easy in most cases. These firms also conceal other vital pieces of information from the students seeking to study abroad.
If these firms give proper information to the students and their parents then they can mentally prepare themselves for any circumstances. After getting the information from the student consultancy firms, their expectations go high. But in practice they often face a different situation once they go abroad. We urge the authorities concerned to look into the activities of these consultancy firms so that no student is cheated.
