Keraniganj killing day today

Wednesday, 2 April 2014

Today (Wednesday) is Keraniganj killing day. The Pakistani occupation forces killed about 10 thousand innocent people, including women and children, in Keraniganj on April 2 in 1971, reports BSS.
The people of Keraniganj will observe 'mourning day' on the day in commemoration of the martyrs.
Different political, social and cultural organisations have chalked out programmes marking the day.
After the genocide on March 25, people from Dhaka started taking shelter in Keraniganj in large numbers. On receiving this information, the Pakistani forces attacked Keraniganj on April 2 and brutally killed some 10 thousand people there.
Recalling the incident, Dhaka district freedom fighter (FF) commander and former MP Mostafa Mohsin Montu said among many others, the then central bank governor Hamid Ullah Khan's wife and son were killed by the Pakistani army while they are passing through Jinjira canal by a boat.
