Khaleda absent, Graft cases hearing adjourned till Aug 27

A Dhaka court on Monday adjourned the hearing of Zia Charitable and Zia Orphanage Trusts graft cases against BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia till August 27.
Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of the Special Judge Court-3 set the date as advocate Aminul Islam, counsel for Ziaul Islam Munna, an accused in Zia Charitable Trust graft case, concluded quizzing first prosecution witness and plaintiff of the cases, Harun-ur-Rashid, deputy director of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Earlier on August 3, Khaleda's counsel concluded quizzing the ACC official, a BSS report added.
ACC filed Zia Orphanage Trust graft case against six, including Khaleda Zia and her eldest son, Tarique Rahman, on July 3, 2008. On August 8, 2011, the anti-graft body lodged the Zia Charitable Trust graft case against Khaleda and three others.
The first PW testified before the court on May 5. The defence started cross-examining him on June 18 and yet to finish.
