BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been accused of hurting religious sentiments and inciting communal hatred through her remarks. AB Siddiqui, president of ruling the ruling party’s affiliate ‘Jananetri Parisad’, filed the case at Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. Metropolitan Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman heard the plaintiff and was expected to issue an order later, Siddiqui’s lawyer Roushan Ara Daisy said. The complainant claimed that the BNP chief made ‘insulting remarks’ against the ruling party while addressing a ‘Shubho Bijaya’ reception hosted after Durga Puja at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), on Oct 14. ‘Awami League was wearing a mask and only pretending to be anti-communal. She accused the ruling party of believing in no religion at all,’ the case details quoted Khaleda as saying, according to bdnews24.com.
