Khaleda again hits campaign trail

Saturday, 25 April 2015

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was back in business on Friday to rev up the city polls campaign for hand-picked candidates after her car was repaired, reports bdnews24.com.
The BNP chief left her house at Gulshan around 4:30pm Friday and went to Baridhara's Notun Bazar and Pragati Sarani.
She spoke through a loud hailer and gave out leaflets seeking votes for Dhaka North City Corporation mayor contender Tabith Mohammed Awal.
Vice Chairman Selima Rahman was with the BNP chief.
Hundreds of BNP adherents marched escorting Khaleda's motorcade.
Supporters of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student affiliate of BNP, took the extra measure to protect Khaleda after her motorcade faced barriers or came under attack on almost every day since she started campaigning last Saturday.
Meanwhile, an FE Report adds: BNP- backed mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mirza Abbas' wife Afroza Abbas said on Friday that people were with them and they hope to win the polls.
"People are with us and we are hopeful to win," she told journalists while campaigning for her husband in Jigatola area on the day.

She visited different areas of Hajaribagh areas and requested the voters to cast votes for mug symbol on April 28.
BNP-backed mayoral candidate of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Tabith Awal raised his eyebrows about the role of the Election Commission (EC) as he said his party leaders and activists had been facing obstacles created by the ruling party cadres during campaign.
"We are afraid if the upcoming elections would be free and fair. We are losing our confidence in the EC. If these things continue to happen then it will cast a negative impact on the national politics," he told journalists while electioneering in Mohakhali area on the day.
He distributed leaflets among the people and requested the voters to cast their votes for bus symbol on April 28. Later he visited Tejgaon and other adjoining areas.
Police did not allow Tabith Awal to offer Juma prayers at Rahim Metal Jame Mosque at Tejgaon on the day, citing that the state minister for home affairs will offer his prayers at the mosque. Later, he went to another nearby mosque and offered his Juma prayers, according to publicity cell of Tabith Awal.
