Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder and Advocate Shamsul Alam Shimul Biswas who separately met detained ex-Prime Minister Khaleda Zia said they would likely to move in a day or two to the High Court to seek her bail, reports UNB.
Talking to reporters, Advocate Talukder said although Khaleda was arrested under the Corruption Prevention and Curbing Act 1947, her case has been brought under the Emergency Power Rules.
He said they discussed various aspects of the case with Khaleda who gave them suggestions.
"We may go to the High Court tomorrow to seek her bail… we lawyers will make our all-out efforts," he said, adding "If necessary, we'll hire lawyers from abroad."
Apart from seeking bail, Advocate Talukder said they will also scrutinise the merit of the case.
He said Khaleda was happy to learn from newspaper reports that secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain and chief coordinator Hannan Shah are unitedly working for the party.
She also enquired about the treatment of her son Arafat Rahman Koko and the cases against her two sons, Tarique Rahman and Koko.
Shimul Biswas told the reporters that Khaleda urged the BNP leaders and workers to remain united and advance the party under the guidance of Delwar and Hannan Shah.
The BNP chairperson also asked her party to form legal aid committees throughout the country to provide legal assistance for the detained party leaders.
Biswas said he would meet Khaleda today (Sunday) to collect her signature on vokalatnama.
