Khaleda blames AL men for abductions, killings

Charging the ruling party men with the incidents of killing, forced disappearance and abduction, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday said these repressive and ‘heinous’ acts can be stopped only when a pro-people government assumes office. “The current illegal regime won’t be able to stop killings and forced disappearance as Awami League and their cohorts are involved in these incidents. So, a pro-people government must be installed through an election under a non-party administration to stop these heinous acts,” she said. Khaleda was addressing a discussion at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh arranged by Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (Jagpa), marking its 34th founding anniversary. Mentioning that their door for discussion is still open, she urged the government to hold a fresh election soon under a non-party neutral government through talks. “If the government thinks it’s very popular then it should take a chance to prove that. There’s no satisfaction in winning a voterless election,” she said, according to a news agency.
