Khaleda calls emergency meeting with 20-party alliance leaders

Sunday, 30 August 2015

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia sat in an emergency meeting with leaders of her party-led the 20-party alliance on Sunday evening to discuss the country’s latest political situation and work out their action programmes to protest the fresh hike in gas and power tariffs.
The meeting began around 7:40pm at the BNP chairperson's Gulshan office with Khaleda in the chair, UNB reported.
At the beginning of the meeting, it expressed deep shock over the death of 20-party’s partner Jatiya Party (Z) chairman Kazi Zafar Ahmed.
A munajat was also offered seeking salvation of the departed soul.
A 20-party leader wishing anonymity said the meeting was convened to decide whether the alliance will take any harsher movement against the hike in gas and power tariff.
The decisions of the meetings are likely to be announced through a press conference on Monday.
Earlier on August 12, Khaleda also had a meeting with the 20-party leaders.
