Khaleda calls Hasina \\\'mother of godfather\\\'
Monday, 16 June 2014
In a scathing attack on her arch rival, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the 'mother of a godfather' as her government is patronising a known Narayanganj godfather. 'Today, Awami League's (supreme) leader (Hasina) is the mother of a godfather. They (govt) are providing shelter to a Narayanganj godfather, patronising him, and have taken his all responsibilities,' Khaleda has said. She came up with the harsh remark apparently in response to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's recent announcement in parliament that she will be there with the Osman family in Narayanganj. Referring to the PM's speech, the BNP chief said the country's people cannot expect anything good from those providing shelter to persons like the Narayanganj godfather. Accusing the government of killing and making disappeared a number of dedicated BNP leaders in a bid to hang onto power, Khaleda claimed, 'A total of 310 BNP leaders have been killed while 65 others made disappeared so far.' She blamed ruling party cadres and law enforcement agencies, including Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), for the incidents of killing and forced disappearance. She also said Hasina cannot be spared for her involvement in the incidents of killing and abduction. Reiterating her demand for disbanding RAB, Khaleda called upon BNP followers men to ‘gherao’ (encircle) the members of RAB and police if they come out to pick up people, according to UNB.
