Khaleda calls Rab a cancer, demands its dissolution

Thursday, 29 May 2014

MUNSHIGANJ, May 28 (UNB): BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has branded Rapid Action Battalion as a cancer and called for its immediate dissolution.
"Rab has turned into a cancer going beyond any reform" Khaleda told a public rally in Musnshiganj town Wednesday.
She likened Rab to the post-independence Rakkhi Bahini that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's government had formed to fight particularly the Sharbahara rebels.
Khaleda accused Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government of using the elite crime-busting force for abductions, forced disappearances and killings of political opponents.
She claimed that Rab served the people and fought militants during her tenure as the prime minister.
"Rab has now become a terror," she said.
Saying that none is safe under this government the BNP chief said called for a united movement to oust it.
"This time movement will be waged throughout the country, including Dhaka," Khaleda said asking the people to join the anti-government agitation.
She once again called for holding new election under a neutral government.
"Hand over power to a neutral government and then say goodbye," she said pointing to the government.
"Last time Awami League was out of power for 21 years. This time it may take 42 years," she said.
Munshiganj district unit BNP organised the rally at Hatlaxmiganj area nearby the launch-ghat to protest against what it said countrywide killings, forced disappearances and abductions and corruption.
Munshiganj unit BNP President Abdul Hye presided over the rally.
