Niko graft case
Khaleda challenges order for foreign witnesses
FE REPORT | Thursday, 12 October 2023
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia does not want that Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) produces an FBI official and two of Royal Canadian Mounted Police as witnesses in the Niko graft case.
A petition has been filed with the High Court (HC) to this end, seeking its permission to cancel a trial court order that allowed the ACC to produce the foreigners.
Barrister Kayser Kamal, a counsel of the former premier and one of the accused in the case, filed the revision petition on behalf of his client on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, an HC bench on Wednesday fixed October 17 for hearing another petition that challenged the legality of witnessing by seeing documents in the case.
The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat passed the order after hearing it.
On September 17, a Dhaka court allowed the ACC to produce an FBI official and two of the Canadian police as witnesses in the case.
