BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday expressed profound shock at the death of 12 people, including 10 Bangladeshis, in a fire at a furniture-manufacturing factory at Shifa Sanaya in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Monday night. “The premature death of expatriates, the driving force of the country’s economy, in an accident is very shocking and painful for the entire nation. I’m like their near and dear ones and the country’s people have got stunned over the death of the hardworking and honest workers in the tragic fire incident,” Khaleda said in a condolence message. She hoped that the Saudi Arabia government will take necessary steps in providing the family members of the victims with due compensations, according to a news agency.
