Khaleda demands immediate release of Gayeshwar

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has condemned the arrests of party’s standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and other leaders and workers of the opposirtion party. In a statement issued hours after Gayeshwar’s arrest, Khaleda Zia demanded his release from the custody immediately. The BNP chief said that the Awami League-led government was on an ‘arrest spree’ and used lawenforcement agencies to raid the houses of senior leaders of the party. Khaleda blamed the Awai League and Bangladesh Chhatra League men for launching attack on BNP’s peaceful gathering in Old Dhaka’s Bakshibazar on Wednesday. The BNP along with the people will ensure dethroning the government if Gayeshwar Chandra Roy is not freed, she warned, according to a news agency.
