An Awami League (AL) senior leader said on Sunday no title could restore the image of Khaleda Zia which she ruined by creating anarchy and killing innocent people in the country, reports BSS.
"Khaleda has destroyed the politics of the country by creating anarchy and killing people and her image cannot be rekindled with a so-called title," he said.
AL publicity and publication secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud made these remarks while addressing a discussion organised by Bangladesh Liberation Council marking the historic March 7 at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city.
BNP leader Khaleda Zia should be named as 'mother of thieves and terror' instead of giving her the title of 'mother of democracy,' he said.
Khaleda Zia whitened black money and her son's corruption was proved at home and abroad, Hasan said, adding that she is also in jail for stealing orphans' money.
Former state minister for Home advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, MP, Executive President of Tanti League Shilpa Das Gupta, Ajker Surjadoy Editor Khandaker Mozammel Haq and President of the Independence Council Jinnat Ali, among others, addressed the function presided over by the organisation's adviser Chittaranjan Das.
Hasan, also the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Forest and Environment, said BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is making a joke by giving Khaleda Zia the title of 'mother of democracy.'
He said Khaleda Zia made one of the Bangabandhu's killers as the leader of the opposition party in parliament after assuming state power illegally on February 15, 1996. Hasan said Khaleda Zia cannot be a democratic leader as she killed innocent people in the name of movement against a democratically elected government.
