Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu accused BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia of trying to distort history like military rulers to confuse people. “BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is spreading lies keeping Bangabandhu and the history in exile. She’s also marketing misleading theories claiming Ziaur Rahman as the first president and proclaimer of the independence,” he said. The minister was addressing the 36th memorial meeting of Comrade Shukhendu Dastidar arranged by Samyabadi Dal at the Jatiya Press Club, according to a news agency.
