Khaleda greets new British PM

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has congratulated the new British Prime Minister, David Cameron, and assured to work closely with him and the UK government in achieving common goals of global peace, prosperity and socio-economic stability, reports UNB.
In a letter sent to the British Prime Minister Cameron Thursday, Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Khaleda Zia said: "Please allow me to extend my heartiest congratulations on your assumption of office of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as a result of the remarkable victory of the Conservative Party in the just concluded general election."
She said the spirit of accommodation, which led to the formation of a coalition government with the Liberal Democratic Party, was a testimony of sagacity and wisdom of the leadership of both the parties.
"As a new political history is now being written in Great Britain, we earnestly hope that this will also usher in a new era of relationship between our two countries," former Prime Minister Khaleda said in her felicitation letter to Cameron.
She said the relations between Bangladesh and Great Britain was historic, founded on shared values of democracy, freedom and human liberty. "Bilaterally, we look forward to working together to further strengthen our multifaceted ties for our mutual benefit."
She said a large number of Bangladeshis who had made Britain their home has further reinforced the close and friendly bonds between "our two countries". "They continue to make meaningful contributions to further enriching our societies politically and economically."
"I am confident Great Britain will achieve greater stability and progress under your dynamic leadership and she will play her due role on the global stage. I also believe that our bilateral relations shall grow in depth and dimension and that these ties shall gain further momentum during your term of office," Khaleda said in her letter to the British PM.
