Khaleda in Munshiganj

Wednesday, 28 May 2014

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has reached Munshiganj to address a rally in Munshiganj launch terminal area after the party’s attempt to hold two rallies in the capital were thwarted. Her motorcade started for Munshiganj from her Gulshan residence around 2:45pm on Wednesday. BNP’s Munshiganj district unit organised the rally to protest against the recent spate of abductions and murders across the country. The rally began around 2:00pm with Munshiganj unit president Abdul Hye in the chair. Khaleda was scheduled to attend two BNP rallies in Dhaka last week at the auditorium of Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh and on the Supreme Court premises, but police stopped them on grounds that her party had not secured necessary permission. This will be Khaleda’s second public rally since the January 5 national elections which BNP boycotted. On March 1, the former opposition leader had addressed a public gathering in Rajbari. Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Md Saiful Hasan Badal and acting Superintendent of Police Md Zakir Hossain Majumdar said all preparations were made to ensure security of the former prime minister, according to bdnews24.com.
