Senior Awami League leader Suranjit Sengupta on Monday alleged that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia further instigated violence through her March 13 press conference, reports UNB.
"Begum Saheba (Khaleda) met the press after a long time. People had thought she would announce to shun the violence. But she fuelled the current political violence further," he said while addressing a discussion, organized by Nouka Samarthak Gosthi, a platform of AL supporters, at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in the city.
Suranjit, an AL Advisory Council member, also criticised senior BNP leaders for skipping the press conference of their party chief Khaleda Zia.
He also termed an 'ominous sign' for politics the failure to trace BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed.
Referring to the statements Salahuddin made from the hideout, the ruling party leader said, "Politics of hideout has now turned into the politics disappearance."
He also expressed the hope that it is possible to trace the BNP leader with the efforts of all. "We hope we'll get good news on Salahuddin Ahmed," he added.
