The Bangladesh Nationalist Party celebrated the 31st founding anniversary Tuesday, reports bdnews24.com.
Chairperson Khaleda Zia kicked off the two-day celebrations by laying flowers at the grave of its founder and late president Ziaur Rahman.

Zia was the first chairman of the party. Earlier in 1975, another rightist political party Jatiyatabadi Ganotantrik Dal had been founded under his patronage, which was dissolved and merged with the BNP.
At around noon, Khaleda, accompanied by secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain, standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, MK Anwar, Dhaka mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka, former speaker Jamir Uddin Sircar and others laid flowers at Zia's grave.
After offering floral tribute, Khaleda and BNP leaders prayed for him.
Later, Dhaka City BNP, Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, Jatiyatabadi Ulama Dal, Ghat Sramik Dal and other associate organisations offered flowers at Zia's grave.
Khaleda later drove to the Institution of Engineers to join a discussion session.
