Khaleda, Mirza Alamgir mourn Qayyum\\\'s death

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has expressed profound shock at the death of Qayyum Chowdhury. In a condolence message, the BNP chief said the death of the genius artist has created a big vacuum in the field of art and culture. ‘The talented artist had earned immense reputation even outside the country for his outstanding contributions to modern arts and paintings,’ shed observed. In another condolence message, BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed shock at the death of the celebrated artist. Both, Khaleda Zia and Mirza Alamgir prayed for salvation of his departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members. Independence Award recipient Qayyum Chowdhury passed away around 8:40pm after he fell sick at a musical event in the city on Sunday at the age of 80, according to a news agency.
