Wednesday, 20 January 2010

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia placed floral wreath and offered fateha at the mazar of shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the founder of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, on his 74th birth anniversary, reports UNB.
This day in 1936, the army-chief-turned-politician was born in Bogra.
Flanked by party leaders and workers, Begum Zia placed the wreath at the mazar at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar around 11:30 am. She later joined a Doa mahfil organised there by Jatiyatabadi Ulema Dal to pray for divine peace of the departed soul of Ziaur Rahman as well as peace, progress and welfare of the country and its people.
The Leader of the Opposition then inaugurated a free medical camp arranged on the mazar premises by Dhaner Shish, a pro-BNP creative organisation, to provide free treatment and medicines for the destitute. Khaleda distributed medicines among some poor men and women. She also opened voluntary blood-donation programme of ZISAS.
