Khaleda should sever ties with Jamaat-militant cliques: Menon

Wednesday, 29 July 2015

NARAIL, July 28 (BSS): Khaleda Zia should sever relations with Jammat-militant cliques and return to democratic politics, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon said on Tuesday.
"Khaleda's realisation about election is not sufficient, so, she should make it clear about militancy for return to the path of democracy," he told the concluding ceremony of birth centenary programme of Workers Party's founder president Comrade Amol Sen at Shilpakala Academy auditorium in the city.
Menon, who is also the president of Workers Party, said Khaleda Zia at present wants only an impartial election, not caretaker government. But she should wait until 2019 for such an election which would be held without Jammat-militants cliques, he added.
Rashed Khan Menon said militants are continuing their ill efforts in different ways and BNP should clarify its stance on militancy as the terrorism and democracy could not go hand in hand and she should take the responsibility for killings and petrol bomb attacks committed in the three months since January 05.
Party general secretary Comrade Fazle Hossain Badsha, MP, polite bureau members Comrade Bimol Biswas, Nurul Hasan, Iqbal Kabir Jahid, Monoj Kumar Saha, Kamrul Ahsan, Mustaf Lutfullah, MP, Sheikh Hafijur Rahman, MP, and district general secretary Nazrul Islam also spoke on the occasion.
Comrade Amol Sen died on January 17, 2003 at Community Hospital in Dhaka and he was cremated with state honour at Bakari village in Egarokhan of the district.
