Khaleda sits with top leaders of 20-party alliance

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday night sat with top leaders of the 20-party alliance to take stock of the country’s political situation and work out the BNP-led coalition’s next course of action. The nearly 1-and-half-hour long meeting began at BNP Chairperson’s political office at Gulshan in the city at 9:10pm. BNP high-ups said the meeting discussed Posts and Telecommunications Minister Abdul Latif Siddique’s derogatory remarks against holy Hajj and Prophet Mohammad (SM) and condemned his comments. The alliance leaders also discussed about announcing a protest programme against such anti-Islamic comments. A BNP standing committee member who attended the meeting said, the meeting chaired by Khaleda Zia, also the leader of the 20-party alliance, discussed latest political situation and the possibilities to finalise soon the action programmes of the movement to be executed after Eid-ul-Azha to force the government to hold a fresh election under a non-party and neutral administration, according to a news agency.
