Khaleda smiles learning process of Hasina's release

Wednesday, 11 June 2008

Detained former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia Tuesday flashed a smile learning of the process of releasing her once arch political rival Sheikh Hasina at the behest of the government, reports UNB.

"If it is done through lawful process, then law is equal for all," she said during consultation with her lawyers at a special court in the parliament building complex.

Khaleda Zia, who also suffers from health complications including acute arthritis for which she had knee-surgery in America, said: "Justice should be ensured equally for all."

The BNP chairperson was also offered similar medical treatment abroad like that of her political rival under a government package, but she spurned the offer a few days ago. Rather, she preferred to stay in the country, saying that there are many good doctors here for her treatment.

Khaleda Zia, however, has been persistently pressing for overseas treatment for her two detained sons - Tarique Rahman and Arafat Rahman Koko.
