Khaleda to spell out new action programmes from rally
Saturday, 13 December 2014
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia goes to Narayanganj today (Saturday) to address a public rally at Kanchpur Balurmath from where she is likely to announce her party-led 20-party's fresh action programme to force the current regime to quit.
The local unit of the 20-party is arranging the rally protesting the 'growing' incidents of killing, enforced disappearance, abduction and the government's repressive acts.
The rally is also meant for drumming up public support in favour of the alliance's demand for snap polls under a non-party administration.
Khaleda Zia is scheduled to leave her Gulshan residence for Kanchpur around 2:30pm, the BNP chief's media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan told UNB.
Later, she will address the rally, to be chaired by Narayanganj BNP president Taimur Alam Khandaker, as the chief guest.
Meanwhile, BNP joint secretary general and chief coordinator of the rally Amanullah Aman said they have completed all the necessary preparations for making the rally a success with the participation of lakhs of people.
Addressing a press conference at the meeting venue, he sought cooperation from the local administration, law enforcers and people from all walks of life in holding the rally successfully.
Mr Aman said there has been huge enthusiasm among the leaders and activists of the local unit of BNP and its alliance partners and all of them are working hard together for holding the rally putting aside misunderstands and divisions among them.
He claimed that Khaleda Zia will come up with fresh action programmes at the rally to save the country and its people from the current regime' s misrule, corruption, plundering, killings, enforced disappearances and other repressive acts.
"Khaleda Zia will also spell out new programmes to restore democracy and free the country from the grasp of one-party rule," the BNP leader added.
Meanwhile, at a press briefing at BNP's Nayapaltan central office on Friday evening, BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that the government as part of its plan to make people panicked is arresting local opposition leaders and activists and raiding their houses and harassing them ahead of the rally.
He hoped that people will make the rally a success with their spontaneous participation braving all obstacles and repressive acts.
It will be Khaleda's 10th rally outside the capital after the January-5 election boycotted by the BNP-led opposition alliance.
