\\\'Khaleda to stand trial for terrorism\\\'

Friday, 3 July 2015

A senior Awami League (AL) leader said on Thursday the common people of Bangladesh would bring BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia to justice on charges of killing innocent people and carrying out terrorist and militant acts in the country, reports BSS.
"Khaleda Zia has killed innocent people and burnt alive passengers and drivers of various motor vehicles during her three months' hartal and blockade across the country," Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmood said while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion at Shilpakala Academy in the city.
Bangababandhu Sangs-kritik Jote organised the discussion on 'Bangalee Nation Towards Getting Rid of Stigma, Because of Jananetree Sheikh Hasina' in memory of Poet Sufia Kamal and Shaheed Janani Jahanara Imam.
Dr Mahmood, also a former minister, said Khaleda Zia is not a political leader, but an actress of a horror movie as her entire body is stained with the blood of innocent people.
He said the present government is committed to completing the trial of all war criminals, adding that no war criminal will be spared from the trial, which will continue.
Referring to the World Bank's report on Bangladesh, Dr Mahmood said the AL government is pledged-bound to turn Bangladesh into a middle income country by 2021, but it has attained the goal six-year earlier.
"The great achievement has been done under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman," he said.
Among others, vice-chancellor of World University Prof Dr Abdul Mannan, organising secretary of Awami League Dhaka City Unit Shahe Alam Murad, assistant secretary of Awami League sub-committee Advocate Balaram Poddar, teachers' leader Shahjahan Alam Saju and Jote general secretary Arun Sarkar Rana spoke on the discussion.
