Monday, 19 December 2011

Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia Sunday urged the freedom-fighters (FFs) to use their training in saving the nation, now passing through a great crisis and danger, reports UNB. The call from the BNP chief, seen as quite significant, came while she was addressing a reception, her party accorded to the freedom-fighters, marking the 40th anniversary of the Victory Day at Institution of Engineers' in the city. "The country is now passing through a great crisis and danger. Vultures are hovering in the sky over Bangladesh," she said. The BNP chief said the freedom-fighters on different occasions in the past used to say that they had handed over their arms but not their training. "Now there is no necessity of arms, but you will have to use your training to protect the nation's independence and sovereignty. People will support you," she told the reception amidst cheers from the freedom-fighters. A large number of freedom-fighters wearing white t-shirts and red and green caps with BNP's emblem attended the reception from different parts of the country. Reiterating her party's stand over trial of war-criminals Khaleda demanded appointment of non-partisan judges for the trial of war criminals, maintaining transparency and international standard.
