BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has threatened intense agitation if rates of gas and electricity are raised.
She told a rally in Narayanganj Saturday that the agitations will start the very next day after the decision is announced.
Addressing the 20-Party Alliance’s rally, Khaleda said the Awami League-led government has failed to provide security to the people of Bangladesh.
“This illegal government is a burden ... the people are not secure anywhere,” she told the rally at Balur Matth ground.
The former prime minister claimed unemployment was on the rise and that “no new industries” had been set up in the last six years.
Khaleda has started addressing rallies more and more over the last few months after her party boycotted the Jan 5 polls.
She announced a non-stop agitation to press for a snap election supervised by a ‘neutral’ body.
“We can’t sit idle anymore,” she said as she asked her supporters to prepare for agitation.
She warned the government against hiking gas and power prices.
“We’ll start our agitation from the very next day if the prices are increased,” Khaleda said, according to a news agency.
