Khaleda will seek remedy from higher court

Monday, 10 September 2007

Detained BNP chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will seek remedy from the higher court against the corruption case filed by the ACC, her lawyers told reporters, reports UNB.
Her lawyers, Advocate Ahmed Azam and Advocate Sanaullah Miah, had separate meetings with Khaleda Zia at the makeshift jail Sunday.
"I think the case filed against me and my son Koko should be challenged before Higher Court (HC) as there is truth in the allegation brought against us," Khaleda Zia was quoted to have told the lawyers during the meeting.
The lawyers said after consultations with the senior lawyers, they would move the HC.
They also said Khaleda had expressed concern over the illness of her son Koko and asked the lawyers to convey the massage to the jail authorities to arrange for his appropriate treatment.
About the present state of affairs in the BNP after expelling its secretary general and joint secretary general, the party chairperson told the lawyers that BNP would remain as it was.
She also asked her party leaders and workers to extend their support to the newly nominated secretary general Khondaker Delwar Hossain as they did in the past.
