Dispelling doubts BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia said Monday she would take part in the December 18 election, reports UNB.
"Certainly I shall take part in the election," she told a group of reporters at her Gulshan office in the evening. "Where is the obstruction of my taking part?" she posed a counter question.
Accused in three corruption cases Khaleda came out on bail on September 11 from detention for more then 12 months.
Replying to a question she said, "Election preparations of the party continued. BNP is election-oriented party and it will certainly contest. But the election has to be neutral, free, fair and acceptable to all parties."
Simultaneously BNP was preparing to launch movement for realising the demands including lifting of emergency, she added.
Asked if BNP would go for election under emergency Khaleda said the party and four-party alliance would decide about it.
BNP secretary general Khandkar Delwar Hossain and leaders of components of four-party alliance had been saying they would not take part in the election under emergency.
Replying to a question that when she would be enrolled as voter, she said, "I'm a citizen of this country. It will be done at a convenient time."
She had declined to enrol as voter when officials concerned approached her during her detention in jail.
