Sunday, 9 August 2015

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will not appear before the Dhaka Special Judge's Court-3, set up in Alia Madrasa premises in Bakshibazar in Old Dhaka, for hearing of Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases on Monday. Khaleda Zia’s lawyer has said the BNP chief will not be able to attend Monday’s proceedings in the makeshift court as she will leave the country on Sunday to receive treatment abroad. “She will go abroad for treatment,” Advocate Sanaullah Mia was quoted by a news agency as saying on Sunday morning. Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar on August 3 fixed Aug 10 (Monday) for hearing in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case against four accused including Khaleda Zia, former prime minister. The judge on Aug 3 adjourned the proceedings till Monday. Defense counsel Khandaker Mahbub Hossain partially cross-examined plaintiff and first witness in the case – ACC deputy director Harun-or-Rashid – during the last proceedings on Aug 3 when Khaleda Zia was present in the court.
