COMILLA, June 11 (UNB): Former minister and BNP lawmaker Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and 11 other BNP leaders have been sued for extortion in the district.
Businessman Mohammad Ibrahim of Kolakandi village in Titash Upazila filed the case with a cognisance court today (Monday).
In the case, the plaintiff alleged that the former health and family welfare minister demanded Tk 0.10 million from him over cell phone on April 10, 2003.
He also said that he paid Tk 40,000 in the first instalment and promised to pay the remaining money afterwards. But, after some days, as the accused started putting pressure on him, he (Ibrahim) left the area in fear for his life, Ibrahim alleged.
Magistrate Selina Parvez asked the officer-in-charge (OC) of Titash police station for taking legal action after proper investigation.
