Khatungonj traders meet Faruk Khan

Our Correspondent CHITTAGONG, Nov 15: Khatungonj Trade and Industries Association leaders recently made a courtesy call on Commerce Minister Faruk Khan at a hotel in the port city. The trade body leaders led by its president Mahbubul Alam apprised the minister of their problems including shortage of power and gas supply to the businesses. President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Murshed Murad Ibrahim was present on the occasion. They told the minister that the businesses helped maintain the prices of essentials static during the last Eid-ul-Azha and assured him of the cooperation in the days to come. The minister said that a number of major infrastructure projects have been taken to solve the power and gas problems and the businesses will get the result shortly. Besides, Dhaka-Chittagong highway will be extended from four lanes to six and construction of some flyovers has already started. Rail line connecting Chittagong will be doubled and projects are there to construct Karnafuli tunnel and deep sea port at Sonadia, he added.
