Mayoral aspirant for Dhaka South City Corporation Sayeed Khokon said on Tuesday if he was elected, he would dedicate his life, like his father, for improving city amenities and turn Dhaka into a world class city, reports BSS.
He said this while launching his election campaign at Jatrabari end of Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover on Tuesday morning.
"This flyover is a symbol of development that has taken place in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. It is also the result of my father's life-long work. That is why I am launching my campaign from here," Khokon explained.
"If the people of Dhaka elect me as their mayor, I will turn Dhaka into a world class city with our united efforts," he said.
Meanwhile, an office for conducting campaign for Khokon has been set up at 25, Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital in the afternoon.
Awami League leaders Mrinal Kanti Das, Abdur Razzak, Swechchhasebak League leader Molla Abu Kawsar and Sujit Rai Nandi were present at the time.
