Khulna crush Barisal

Khulna Division retained their supremacy after the 5th round four-day matches of the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 9th National Cricket League crushing Barisal Division by an innings and 3 runs on the final day at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium (SCS) in Bogra Wednesday, reports UNB.
In the other two matches, Chittagong Division tasted their first victory beating Sylhet Division by six wickets at the Bir Shreshtho Ruhul Amin Stadium (BSRAS) in Chittagong while Rajshahi Division defeated holders Dhaka Division by 70 runs at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium (RDVS).
After the day's results, Khulna Division kept the top slot securing 62 points, followed by Rajshahi Division in the second position with 55 points. Dhaka Division is in the third position collecting 47 points while Barisal Division is in 4th position grabbing 46 points.
Chittagong Division remained at the 5th position having 37 points while Sylhet Division languishes at the bottom with 25 points.
From the 5th round, Khulna Division collected maximum 16 points including eight bonus points while runners-up Rajshahi Division earned 13 points that included five bonus points.
Dhaka Division managed five bonus points while Barisal Division only four bonus points. From their first victory, Chittagong Division increased their tally by 15 points including 7 bonus points while Sylhet Division only managed 4 bonus points.
At the SCS, Barisal Division, which needed 57 runs to avoid innings defeat, fell three runs short as they managed 187 for all in 81.2 overs in the 2nd innings on the 4th and final day after resuming with overnight 133 for 6 in 63.3 overs.
Rakibul Hassan, resuming on overnight 57, returned to the pavilion without adding any run being run out by Syed Rasel. Number six Raisul Islam could add another 11 runs today before returning to the dressing room on 35 off 104 balls that featured two fours and a six.
The remaining five Barisal Division batsmen -- Mohammad Shahin 19, Talha Jubair 11, Sajedul Islam 8, Arafat Salahuddin 3 -- were not able to avoid the innings defeat.
