Khulna Div trail by 143 runs against Ctg

League leader Khulna Division were struggling with 216 for 6 in 77 overs against Chittagong Division's huge first innings total of 359 at stumps on day two of the 7th round four-day match of the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 9th National Cricket League Thursday, reports UNB.
Skipper Ehsanul Haque Sezan resumed batting with 56 runs and contributed 78 with 12 boundaries for the hosts Chittagong Division that resumed the first innings with 322 runs for 6 at the Bir Shreshtho Ruhul Amin Stadium in Chittagong.
Murad Khan and Rabiul Islam claimed three Chittagong wickets each conceding 85 and 102 runs while pacer Ziaur Rahman took two wickets for 68 runs.
In reply, Khulna Division, riding on 91 runs by opener Nazmus Samad, managed to score two hundred plus runs at the cost of six wickets, but were still trailing by 143 runs in the first innings.
Apart from Nazmus Sadat's 91 runs featuring 13 boundaries, skipper Habibul Bashar made 35 runs off 93 balls, including three boundaries, and middle order Nahidul Haque remained unbeaten with 33 runs off 89 balls with six fours for Khulna.
Yasir Arafat was the most successful among the Chittagong bowlers on the day grabbing three wickets for 38 runs while Kamrul Islam and Mohammad Younus took one wicket each.
In the day's another match at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium, Sylhet Division took a 164-run lead over holders Dhaka Division at stumps on the second day of the four day affairs.
Sylhet Division resumed the first innings with overnight 223 runs for 7 and piled up a comfortable total of 312 runs for all in 116 overs.
Middle order batsman Golam Mabud, who hit a century against Chittagong Division in the 5th round, resumed batting with 24 runs and led the team to a respectable total contributing an unconquered 75 off 204 balls hitting 10 boundaries.
Another night-watch batsman Enamul Haque Jr (10) added a useful 38 that featured four fours.
In reply, Dhaka Division made a frustrating start scoring 96 runs for the loss of five wickets -- Uttam Sarkar (0), Mahmudullah Riyad (8), Mehrab Hossain (36), skipper Al Shahriar Rokon (2) and Anwar Hossain (31).
After the dismissal of five top batsmen, number six Shamsur Rahman pairing with Nadif Chowdhury carried team total to a respectable position contributing unbeaten 52 runs.
