Khulna go top of points table beating Rajshahi by 2 wkts

Khulna Division moved to the top slot of the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 9th National Cricket League beating runners-up Rajshahi Division by two wickets in the 4th round four-day match on the last day at the Bir Shreshtho Matiur Rahman Stadium in Khulna (BSRAS) Wednesday, reports UNB.
In the other two matches, Dhaka Division registered a three-wicket victory over Chittagong Division at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium (SBNS), while Barisal Division snatched a thrilling two-wicket win over Sylhet Division at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium (NOS).
Khulna Division dominates the league table with 46 points including 13 from the 4th round match while reigning champions Dhaka Division, runners-up Rajshahi Division and Barisal Division follow the league leaders securing 42 points each.
Despite their defeat, Chittagong Division got five bonus points to raise their tally to 22 points while Sylhet Division earned 7 bonus points to collect overall 21 points after the 4th round match.
Dhaka Division collected maximum 16 points including 8 bonus points, Barisal Division secured 13 points including 5 bonus points and Rajshahi Division bagged only 4 points from the 4th round match.
At the BSMRS, chasing a target of 241 runs set by Rajshahi Division, opener Nazmus Sadat's yet another half century along with some good contributions by Imrul Kayes, skipper Habibul Bashar and Tushar Imran enabled hosts Khulna Division to score 242 for 8 in 68.5 overs.
Sadat, who made 95 in the 1st innings, scored 52 runs in the 2nd innings while Imrul contributed 41, Habibul 35 and Tushar 34 runs guide Khulna to their first win in the ongoing league.
Nayeem Islam, medium pacer Farhad Reza and spinner Suhrawardy Shuvo took two wickets each.
Under-19 pacer Dollar Mahmud, who claimed eight wickets in the match with a hattrick, including a seven-wicket haul in the 1st innings, was adjudged the player of the match.
Earlier, in the morning, Rajshahi Division resumed their 2nd innings on the fourth and final day with overnight 192 for 7 in 78 overs and were all out for 241 runs.
At the SBNS, chasing a small target of 103, Dhaka Division cantered to victory scoring the required runs in 30.5 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. All-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad contributed 27 runs off 38 balls with two fours and a six.
Left-handed Mehrab Hossain Jr. scored not out 22 and tail-ender Mohammad Sharif not out 8 to earn the 2nd victory for Dhaka Division.
Kamrul Islam grabbed four wickets for 19 runs in 7 overs while pacer Saju Datta took 2 for 20.
Earlier, in the morning, trailing by 11 runs, Chittagong Division resumed their 2nd innings with overnight 165 for 4 in 50.2 overs to be all out for 278 in 101.5 overs.
Skipper Ehsanul Haque Shezan added another 38 runs to his overnight score making 56 off 105 balls with five fours while another overnight batsman Faisal Hossain Dickens scored 25 runs. Pacer Tareq Aziz remained unbeaten on 31.
Spin trio Mehrab, Mohammad Ashraful (skipper) and Mosharraf Hossain Rubel took two wickets each.
Opener Javed Omar was adjudged man of the match for his 101 that enabled Dhaka Division to post 376 in the 1st innings. In reply, Chittagong Division could manage only 200 in their 1st innings.
At the NOS, number seven Arafat Salahuddin and middle order Raqibul Hasan scored useful fifties to guide Barisal Division to their 2nd win, as they reached the target scoring 176 runs for 8 wickets in 63.5 overs. Barisal earlier resumed their 2nd innings today with 41 for 5.
Needing more 131 runs with five wickets in hand, overnight batsmen Raqibul (21) and Arafat (13) batted brilliantly to take the match from Sylhet's grip, adding 126 runs in the 6th wicket stand before Arafat was caught by Shuvashish and bowled by Nabil Samad contributing 76 runs off 140 balls with 13 fours.
Soon Raqibul also perished for 57 runs off 173 balls that featured nine boundaries while Tapash Ghosh not out 13 and Talha Jubair not out 12 did the rest for Barisal.
Shuvashish Roy captured three wickets for 47 runs while Golam Mabud took 2 for 23.
Arafat Salahuddin, who claimed seven wickets in the match apart from his 76 runs in the 2nd innings, was adjudged man of the match.
Earlier, riding on Alok Kapali's spectacular 168 runs, Sylhet Division declared their 1st innings at 335 for 9 while Barisal Division were all out for 259 in their 1st innings.
