Khulna Hardboard Mills suspends production

KHULNA, Nov 18: The authorities of the Khulna Hardboard Mills have suspended its production from Sunday night for non-supply of furnace oil, leaving about 250 daily workers jobless. Managing Director (MD) of the mills Khalilur Rahman told the news agency the production is expected to resume at the end of December when the supply of furnace oil would be available from Eastern Refinery at Chittagong, which is now under going overhauling. The mills need 54,000 litres of furnace oil a week. The MD said the closure would lead to loss of Tk 200 million (20 crore) of the mills authorities and about Tk 3.20 million (32 lakh) revenue of the government. -- BSS
