Khulna people hail PM for approving big projects

Leaders of different trade bodies, including Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and other organisations, and also individuals hailed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's proposal to implement different large projects for the development of Khulna, reports BSS.
Other organisations including Khulna City Corporation (KCC), Khulna Development Authority (KDA), entrepreneurs, economists, educationalists and political party leaders hailed the prime minister for proposing to implement the mega projects to develop the south-western district.
The large projects include a medical university in the industrial city namely 'Sheikh Hasina Medical University (SHMU), a four-lane 'Sher-e-Bangla Road,' a ten-storied building of 'Khulna Tax Bhaban' and sewerage line.
Khulna deputy commissioner M Helal Hossain recently sent a DPP to the government for building the medical university on 100 acres of khas (government) land in the south-western divisional city.
The leaders also hailed the prime minister as Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved Tk 1.7 billion (Tk 100.70 crore) for construction of the Sher-e-Bangla Road in the city at a meeting in Dhaka recently.
The six-kilometre long four-lane project will be constructed from Moylapota to Zero point in the city. The construction work of the road will begin on January 2020, as finalised in the meeting.
The ECNEC also approved another project to build the proposed 10-storied building of 'Tax Bhaban' at Boyra on 1.35 acres of land with a cost of Tk 713.5 million (Tk 71.35 crore).
The government has also taken a big project to construct the sewerage line on 32 acres of land at Matha Bhanga and Thikarabad in the district.
The project involving cost of Tk 22 billion (Tk 2200 crore) will begin next year. These projects aim to make a step towards turning the country into a middle-income one by 2021.
In separate press release, they welcome the prime minister, saying the project would play a positive role in growth of different development strategies in business, investment, higher education and poverty alleviation.
KCCI President Kazi Aminul Haque said that people of south-west region would be benefited after completion the project.
The women chamber leaders, however, underlined importance of proper and quality in implementation of the proposed large projects for graduating the country into a middle income developing one.
Presidents of the city and district units of Awami League (AL) Talukder Abdul Khaleque and Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid respectively also hailed the prime minister, saying that after completion of the projects it would play a significant role to boost economy, alleviate poverty and improve the living standards of the people.
Vice-chancellors of Khulna University KU) and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), chairman of Khulna Devlopment Authority (KDA) and leaders of Khulna Unnyan Sangram Samonnya Committee and different other socio-cultural organisations also praised the prime minister for approval of these projects at the ECNEC meeting.
