Khulna urban poor get cash help from KCC

KHULNA, May 17: KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque said that Khulna City Corporation is working sincerely for the socio-economic development of the urban poor people. "The development of lifestyle of the urban poor people is the main aim through bringing the economic solvency and for this reason we have to implement the programme unitedly". He said the present government has taken a massive programme to eradicate the poverty. Under this programme sufficient financial support is being provided to the poor people for economical solvency. KCC Mayor said this while he was distributing the cash money among the poor, women of the ultra poor family and learners in different wards of the city Monday under the UPPR project. The city Mayor distributed Tk 7.9 million among 1900 female ultra poor and learners in 28 wards of the town. The distribution programme was attended among others by KCC Panel Mayor-1 Azmal Ahmed Topon, Councilor Moniruzzaman Khan, Sk Kamruzzaman, Mahbub Kaisar,Gias Uddin Boni, Afroza Aaman, Project Chairman Engineer SM Nazrul Islam and other concerned officials. Cattle traders abducted Another report adds: Bandits abducted two cattle traders while they were bringing cattle from India and demanded Tk 0.2 million as ransom at Maitvanga river area in Sundarbans Sunday evening. The abducted were identified as Rashidul Islam, son of Sawkat Gazi and Iman Ali, son of Islam Gazi of village Kalinchi under Shamnagor of Satkhira district. Cattle trader Laltu and local sources said that the traders were coming from India via corridor by a trawler loaded with cattle and when they reached at Maitbhanga river area a gang of bandits halted the trawler on gunpoint and kidnapped Rashidul and Iman Ali and demanded Tk 0.2 million as ransom. They also took away one cow and four mobile sets from the trawler. Assistant conservator of forest, Satkhira said that the activities of the pirates have increased in Sundarbans area and they are trying to rescue the abducted traders. 3 clinics sealed Another report adds: RAB-6 members have sealed three clinics at Kaloroa Upazilla of Satkhira district on Monday on charge of various criminal activities. Source said that that the members of RAB-6 raided the three clinics led by judicial magistrate Pintu Bepary. They were allegedly doing illegal business under the signboard of the clinic and they could not show any document validating clinics. The clinics are Shimanto Clinic of Sonabaria, Abdur Rahman Clinic of Khorda and Medicare Clinic of Kaloroa Sadar. Dr. Rafiqul Islam, representative of Civil Surgeon, DAD of RAB Golam Mostofa and Upozila Nirbahi Officer ANM Tariqul Islam were present during the drive.
