Khulna wears festive lookas Sundarbans may win

KHULNA, Nov 11 (BSS): Khulna City today (Friday) took a festive mood as its dwellers are expecting victory of the Sundarbans, the world famous mangrove forest, in new 'seven wonders of nature' competition.
Sundarbans Samarthak Gosthi, a forum of supporters of the forest, and Khulna City Corporation jointly set up over 50 camps across the city for voting in favour of Sundarbans, for facilitating people to vote free of cost through internet and mobile phones.
At the last day of campaign for the Sundarbans, famous for its mangrove trees and Royal Bengal Tigers, the Khulna city dwellers organised cultural programmes, rallies and distributed leaflets at different points of the city.
Special prayers in mosques and other places of worships in Khulna were also offered for the triumph of the Sundarbans, situated near the city.
City Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque, along with other leaders, today visited different campaign stalls and urged the people to vote more and more for Sundarbans as the final result to be announced hours later.
Meanwhile, the campaign organisers have taken all preparations to bring out a victory procession from city's UN Park at midnight if the Sundarbans wins in the competition as one of the new seven wonders of nature.
