SEOUL, Sept 1 (AFP): South Korean midfielder Seol Ki-Hyeon has signed a three-year deal with Fulham after transferring from Premier League rivals Reading, the two football clubs said Saturday.
Fulham confirms "the signing of Seol Ki-Hyeon from Reading Football Club, in a three-year deal which sees Liam Rosenior depart for the Madjeski Stadium," Fulham said on its website.
"Seol has many of the attributes that I look for in a player; he is strong and tenacious and is prepared to work hard to create opportunities for himself and the team. He is very good in the air but he will also close down opposition defenders," Fulham manager Lawrie Sanchez was quoted as saying on the website.
"He can play as a striker but also has the ability to pose a threat on both sides of our midfield which offers depth and dimension to the squad. I believe he will be a great addition to our combined attacking effort, and have no doubts of his capabilities following his fantastic performances for Reading last season," he said.
The 28-year-old Korean made 34 appearances for Reading after joining the team in 2006 from Wolverhampton Wanderers where he played 76 games for the Black Country team from August 2004.
Seol played in all of South Korea's six games when the team reached the semi-final in the 2002 World Cup.
"Seol's impact on the team was very significant in the early months of last season, and played an important role in establishing us in the Premier League during those important opening weeks. We wish him well at Fulham," he was quoted as saying on Reading's website.
