Kidnapped boy rescued in Bagerhat, 1 held

PIROJPUR, May 17 (UNB): Police rescued a boy from Surui in Sadar Upazila of Bagerhat early Saturday 12 hours after his kidnap from Pirojpur Friday evening.
The rescued boy is Rashedul Islam (15), a Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinee and son of Dulal Mia of the Shikarpara area of Pirojpur town.
Police also arrested one Asaduzzaman Meraj of Kaukhali Upazila of the district in connection with his alleged involvement in kidnapping the boy.
Miscreants picked up Rashed from a bridge near Janata Cinema Hall in the town at about 6:00 pm and left the place by a microbus.
Later the kidnappers demanded Tk 0.5 million as ransom from the family members of Rashed.
As per the demand of the kidnappers, Rashed's mother sent Tk 0.19 million to three mobile phone numbers through bKash.
After tracking the mobile phones of the kidnappers, police conducted a drive in Bagerhat and rescued Rashed from a field of Bagerhat District Education Office at Surui in sadar upazila early Saturday.
