Kidnapped DANIDA official rescued

BANDARBAN, July 8 (UNB): The army-led joint forces rescued DANIDA project officer Hossain Shahid Sumon Sunday morning, long 14 days after the terrorists had kidnapped him from Kheburipara in Thanchi Upazila of the district.
Army sources said they rescued Sumon at about 10:00 am from Kanaikhhang Jhiri of Kadang hill area as the abductors abandoned their quarry and fled away to the hills following the massive operation by the joint forces.
A helicopter has been sent to the rescue spot to bring Sumon to the district headquarters.
The joint forces cordoned off the entire area and continued their hunt for the kidnappers.
Some 10-12 masked gunmen picked up the DANIDA project officer Sumon and driver Mohammad Hanif from Kheburipara in Thanchhi Upazila of the district on June 25.
Driver Hanif was rescued by the joint forces from Aungsha Pru Karbaripara on June 28.
