Kidnapped man rescued in Natore

Police rescued a man, who had been reportedly kidnapped by some miscreants from Uttar Borogachha in Natore district town on Wednesday, from Hafrasta in the town on Thursday. The victim was identified as Abul Kalam, a worker of a furniture shop owned by one Mashiur Rahman of the area. Quoting victim, police said two unidentified young men picked up Kalam while he was returning home from the shop around 10 pm on Wednesday. Later they took him to a room near Uttar Borogachha Rail crossing and asked him to demand a good amount of money from his master over phone. As he refused to call his master, the kidnappers took him to a field and tried to slit his throat on Thursday evening. At one stage, he managed to escape from the clutches of the kidnappers after a scuffle and ran away from the field. Hearing screams of Abul Kalam, locals rushed in and rescued him. However, the kidnappers managed to flee sensing the presence of the local people. Later, he was rushed to sadar hospital. Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Natore Police Station, said no one lodged any complaint over it, acco0rding to UNB.
