Kidnappers slay minor for nonpayment of ransom money

Kidnappers slaughtered a minor and hid her body under earth in Battalahat in Kaliganj area in Chapainawabganj town. The dead is Kabita, 4, daughter of Kurban Ali, a resident of the area. RAB personnel recovered her body from a place near a school in Battalahat on Thursday night. Commanding officer of RAB-5 Lieutenant Colonel Mahbub Alam at a press briefing today said Shihab, cousin of Kurban Ali, kidnapped Kabita from in front of her house around 11.00am on August 30 and demanded Tk 0.5 million from Kurban Ali over mobile phone as ransom for her release. Through mobile phone tracking, the RAB-5 personnel arrested two alleged kidnappers – Shihab Reza, 24, son of Emran Ali of Ajairpur Abujarpara village, and his associate Sagar Ahmed, 25, son of Abdul Malek of Shonkorbati area, from Boalia Bridge in Gomostapur Upazila on Thursday afternoon. Following Shihab’s confessional statement, a RAB team recovered Kabita’s body digging up earth at a place near Polladanga High School around 10:30pm, Lt Col Mahbub said. He said the kidnappers killed her by slitting the throat on the day of abduction and hid the body inside a septic tank. Later the miscreants removed the body from there and concealed it under earth as it gave out odour, according to a news agency.
