A suspected killer of schoolboy Rakibul Islam Emon whose body was recovered after 35 days into his kidnapping confessed on Friday to his involvement in the killing. Al Amin, also Emon’s cousin, gave confessional statement before the court of Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Monwara Begum in the evening. As per the statement, five people took part in the killing mission and all them were drivers of CNG-run and battery-run auto-rickshaws. They kidnapped Emon, son of expatriate Nura Miah of Kamtal Malivita village in Bandar upazila, on January 29 this year for ransom, Al Amin said. The kidnappers first demanded Tk 2 lakh and then 10 lakh from his family as a condition to set him free. However, thinking that they may face difficulties if Emon was released alive after abduction, the five killed the 14-year-old boy, a student of local Moglapara High School. Earlier, five days into the abduction, Emon’s mother Ferdousi Begum lodged a case against five persons. On Wednesday’s night, the decomposed body of the teenager was recovered from a ditch adjacent to his residence in Bandar upazila. The court also placed two other accused and Alamin’s accomplices Shahjahan Ali Jibon and Saidur Rahman on a three-day remand in the murder case. Akhter Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bandar Police Station, said they arrested Alamin, Jibon and Saidur on Wednesday night. During preliminary interrogation, they admitted to killing Emon, according to a news agency.
