Killing militant in ‘crossfire’ attempt to hush up incident

Monday, 24 February 2014

Terming the snatching of three militants from a prison van as government’s massive failure, BNP on Monday alleged that the killing of one of the militants in ‘crossfire’ is an attempt to hush up the entire incident. “Convicted militant Rakib Hasan has been killed through a drama of crossfire to hide the real incident. Question has arisen in public mind for what reason he was killed in crossfire without collecting information from him about the incident,” said BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. The BNP spokesman made the remark while talking to reporters after placing wreaths at the grave of BNP founder late president Ziaur Rahman along with recently released BNP Chittagong division leader Golam Akbar Khandaker. Expressing concern over the escape of the two militants, Fakhrul said strict security measures were not taken when the militants were being taken to Mymensingh in a prison van, according to a new agency.
