Kings of Khulna advance to final of NCL T20

National skipper Shakib Al Hasan-led Kings of Khulna is the first team to reach the final of the Destiny Group NCL T20 Cricket beating Mashrafe Bin Mortaza's Sultans of Sylhet by six wickets in the first semifinal at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur Monday, reports UNB.
Kings of Khulna will play the final on Wednesday at 5:20 pm against the winners of 2nd semis between Dhaka Dynamites and Rajshahi Rangers at the same venue today.
Favoured by coin in the day's first semis, Sultans of Sylhet opened the innings first and faced initial batting crisis losing four wickets for 42 runs in 7.3 overs. But a confident 52-run 5th wicket stand between Farhad Reza and Indika De Saram enabled them to score 131 for 8 in 20 overs.
Number six Farhad Reza contributed match highest 43 runs off 34 balls with one four and three sixes while Indika De Saram added 22 runs off 26 balls with a boundary.
Skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza scored run-a-ball 15 with a boundary while wicket keeper Dhiman Ghosh made 18 off 17 balls with one four and a six.
Well-built Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Joysa and Alauddin Babu claimed two wickets each for 16 and 32 runs respectively while captain Shakib, spinner Abdur Razzak and pacer Dollar Mahmud took one wicket apiece.
In reply, Kings of Khulna made a solid start scoring 104 runs for 2 in 15.4 overs and finally reached their target scoring 134 runs in 19.4 overs for the loss of four wickets.
Sri Lankan opening batsman Mahela Lakmal hammered 38 runs off 36 balls with two fours and a six to be adjudged man of the match.
One down national batsman Imrul Kayes also contributed 38 runs off 46 balls with three fours, another opener Mohammad Mithun scored 21 runs off 17 balls with three fours and a six while Farhad Hossain made useful 15 off 11 balls with two fours.
Shakib Al Hasan fared badly as he scored only six runs off four balls with a boundary while dollar Mahmud remained unbeaten on 5 off 4 balls with one four.
Mashrafe bagged two wickets for 26 runs while Farhad Reza took one for 22 runs.
