Kings of Khulna reach semis beating Barisal Blazers by 45 runs

Kings of Khulna booked the last semifinal berth of the Destiny Group NCL T20 Cricket beating Barisal Blazers by 45 runs in the last league match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the city Sunday, reports UNB.
In the semifinals on Monday, the 2nd ranked Sultans of Sylhet (8 points) will take on 4th placed Kings of Khulna (4) at 1:00 pm while top ranked Dhaka Dynamites (10) will meet 3rd placed Rajshahi Rangers (4) at 5:20 pm, both at SBNCS. ATN Bangla will telecast both the semis live.
Both the Rajshahi Rangers and Kings of Khulna have secured four points after the league engagements but Rajshahi finished third in the league table for their head-to-head win. Rajshahi beat Khulna by 36 runs in their 2nd league match on April 12 at BKSP.
Sent in to bat first in the day's crucial match, national skipper Shakib Al Hasan-led Kings of Khulna scored moderate 139 runs for all in stipulated 20 overs.
After the dismissal of eight batsmen for 92 runs in 15.5 overs, national pacer Dollar Mahmud saved Khulna with a quick-fire not out 30 runs off 18 balls that featured two fours and two sixes.
Earlier, top order national batsman Imrul Kayes contributed team highest 36 runs off 33 balls with three fours while Sri Lankan opener Mahela Udawatta added another useful 26 runs off 18 balls with three fours and a six.
Besides, Sri Lankan Nuwan Joysa (10), national spinner Abdur Razzak (11), Alauddin Babu (8), Tushar Imran (6), Farhad Hossain (5), Elias Sunny (3) and Mohammad Mithun (1) were the other contributors for Khulna.
National skipper Shakib Al Hasan returned to the pavilion with duck in the very first ball.
Left-arm national pacer Syed Rasel and Shabbir Rahman claimed three wickets each for 24 and 19 runs respectively while Arafat Sunny took two wickets for 25 runs.
In reply, Shahriar Nafees-led Barisal Blazers were bundled out for 94 runs in 18 overs.
Jeevantha Kulatun scored team highest 23 runs off 20 balls with three fours, skipper Shahriar Nafees scored 21 runs off 31 balls with a four while Sahagir Hossain made 14 off 13 with three fours.
National spinner Abdur Razzak, who scored 11 runs and later grabbed three wickets for 17 runs in four overs, was adjudged man of the match.
Alauddin Babu and captain Shakib Al Hasan picked up two wickets each for 13 and 16 runs respectively.
